This position would suit a junior to middleweight developer. The role will include a variety of tasks as well as coding, including preparing accurate specifications for development work, site fixes, and database design. The successful applicant will receive training to achieve a .net qualification.
Essential Skills:
- Web application development experience. (Commercial, academic or personal)
- Ability to code using a server side scripting language such as PHP/ASP or .Net languages.
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS.
- An aptitude for solving problems and a keen interest to learn new skills.
- Database Design.
Desirable Skills:
The developer would benefit from experience in object orientated design.
Experience in any of; JavaScript, DHTML, XHTML, XML, OOD, Ajax, MS Access and MySQL would be a distinct advantage.
The successful applicant will also show a mix of the below:
- Awareness of web standards and usability.
- Ability to use initiative but staying within specification guidelines.
- Attention to detail in code as well as the visual aspect of the overall design.
- Good debugging skills.
- Good documentation skills.
- Good testing skills.
- General knowledge of coding/optimisation for search engines like Google.
